Description
Tasks performed by the programmer(s) may include, but not limited to the following:
.Interview end-users and gather new and existing application requirements. Document requirements and discuss them with management.

.Create new and update existing system design and workflow documents using automated tools.

.Design, document, create, and optimize simple to moderately complex database schemas.

.Develop and enhance applications using the following: COBOL, CICS, JCL, TSO, DB2, FOCUS Database, VSAM, and CLIST (Optional).

.Test applications that have been developed by internal and external staff and perform other applications development duties as needed.

.Willingness to support DPW's application upgrades, conversions and migration schedules (possible nights/week-ends).

.Work as part of a collaborative team.

.Perform general technical troubleshooting and provide recommendations to management.

.Provide knowledge transfer to DPW's technical staff and document all work performed.

Experience/Skills
Mainframe Programmers shall meet all of the following minimum qualifications : 1.Five (5) years of experience, within the last eight (8) years, programming in the following: a. COBOL, b. CICS, c. JCL, d. TSO, e. DB2, f. FOCUS Database, g. VSAM. 2.Five (5) years of experience, within the last eight (8) years, in application development. 3.Five (5) years experience, within the last eight (8) years, preparing system requirements and design documents. 4.Five (5) years experience, within the last eight (8) years, in Database design and normalization (DB2, FOCUS Database).
