GENERAL FUNCTION:


Develop and support the Enterprise Disaster Recovery Programs. Assist in the design, testing, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of Fifth Third's recovery preparedness programs and plans.


Manage corporate-wide policies, procedures, and standards related to disaster recovery planning. Implement plans and strategic direction for contingency and recovery planning. Advise and assist Business Unit Management with the implementation of effective recovery programs. Advise and report regularly on progress toward meeting policies.


Provide leadership in coordinating, assessing, developing & communicating recovery environment requirements and contingency plans.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



Coordinate and develop procedures to ensure all of the Fifth Third Enterprise can respond to an event or a disaster in a manner that will allow for critical business functions to be resumed within a defined time frame, in order to minimize the amount of financial, property and personnel loss.



Document recovery support procedures for restoring key Bank Corp organizational resources.



Coordinate, develop, and maintain applicable training material. Conducting Disaster Recovery awareness and training for staff members in all functional areas.



Develop and maintain Fifth Third Enterprise' emergency response procedures; distribute updated emergency procedures to reflect changes in staff size, location, organization, and facilities.



Participate in emergency response committee(s).



Be on call 24 hours a day, 365 days per year to respond to any disaster event.



Ensure Fifth Third Enterprise meets/exceeds any regulatory requirements.



Assist business units with determining critical business processes.



Assist in identifying acceptable recovery time periods, and establish resources required for the successful resumption of business operations in the event of a business interruption.



Recommend risk mitigation strategies.



Work with Fifth Third Enterprise departments to establish reasonable and cost disaster recovery plans and strategies.



Prepare cost and benefit analyses, prioritize assignments, and manage and control the overall progress of all Enterprise related Disaster Recovery projects, ensuring those projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with Fifth Third policies and practices.



Plan, schedule, and oversee all disaster recovery exercises.



Ensure records required for recovery are identified and properly maintained in the Vital Records Program (LDRPS).



Work with Corporate facilities to ensure that as new equipment, facilities, services, and systems are installed, the business continuity issues are addressed (i.e., UPS/generators, etc.).



Maintain contact with outside contingency planning professional organizations and local/regional emergency response groups.



Assist in the selection of alternate location/recovery sites.



Effectively communicate and work closely with internal Fifth Third business units, other Business Continuity Planners and external vendors to ensure that Fifth Third has the capability to recover the production systems in a timely manner in the event of an extended business interruption.



Stay current with studies in all types of disasters, whether natural, human and/or technical, in an effort to understand the potential for occurring and how to plan for damage control and remediation.



Assists Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity personnel during a disaster, implementation of response and alternate operating strategies.



Coordinate/facilitate data center recovery meetings and planning sessions.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Manages personnel and reports to the Director of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, or alternative supervisor as assigned.

Experience/Skills


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:


Exceptional technical, managerial, and professional skills, with 10+ years of increased responsibilities in the field of IT Disaster Recovery and/or Business Continuity Management with particular expertise in Disaster Recovery Planning for a large, multi-platform organization. Preferably a Financial Institution.


Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to work effectively with personnel at all organizational levels.


Experience working and interacting with IT Audit and regulatory agencies.


Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field.


Certification as a Business Continuity Professional desired.
