MES Developer

Job Duties:
The successful candidate will become part of a team developing the first Global Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for Boston Scientific. The candidate must balance a variety of tasks related to gathering requirements from customers, designing effective user interfaces, developing software solutions, testing, trouble-shooting, and production support. The candidate must be able to interact across functional teams and sites to deliver the optimum solution. The Boston Scientific MES System will be deployed to over a dozen plants in several countries, and to many thousands of users. Its purpose is to drive down compliance risk and increase manufacturing efficiency. The successful candidate will be an essential part of this rollout.

Tasks Include:
- Develop new MES user, machine, and enterprise application interfaces using vendor-established coding tools.
- Trouble-shoot existing system issues, and develop solutions.
- Meeting with customers to gather requirements and determine optimal solution with Global impact in mind.
- Assure a high standard of quality in your own work and in the work of others on your team via good coding practices, process improvements, clean designs, smart testing and review practices
- Support active MES Sites by trouble-shooting issues, and consult on Model configuration questions.
- Develop test protocols for design verification.
- Contribute in system testing efforts where necessary.


Qualification:
- Technical college or undergraduate degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
- Some experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, with experience in the medical device industry a definite plus.
- Experience Developing with Visual Basic, Visual Studio.NET, SQL, Oracle, XML is preferred. Comparable coding experience with other languages/formats is acceptable.
- Required Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Eagerness to travel, sometimes internationally, to meet with customers and global team members (approx. 25% of time) is a must.
