Description
The SQL DBA / Engineer role is split as follows:

70% of this positions time is spent maintaining the productivity of the companies databases including architecture, design, implementation, maintenance and 24x7 on-call operations.

10% of this position is spent reviewing designs and SQL code from developers to ensure adherence to established coding principles and standards.

The remaining 20% of this role is utilized as flex time for the various responsibilities outlined above and any PTO.

Some Responsibilities include:

1. Ensure that IT trouble tickets are answered promptly within SLA guidelines and updates are completed regularly on all issues.

2. Understanding of Windows system administration, networking concepts and technologies.

3. Conduct advanced troubleshooting and resolve highly complex technical issues including performance tuning Stored Procedures, Triggers, Views & Functions on highly available databases.

4. Provide software build support and ongoing assistance with build activities to ensure timely delivery of testing and production software builds in a highly dynamic software development lifecycle process.

5. Design and develop advanced database solutions, including T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, functions and schemas to enable and support Development objectives.

6. Provide mentoring, guidance and direction to development staff in techniques for writing efficient SQL code.

Must haves include:

1. College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, and/or 3 years equivalent work experience.

2. One or more relevant Microsoft certifications; MCAP, MCTS (SQL Server), MCDBA.

3. Minimum 5 years experience with advanced Microsoft SQL Server (2000/2005/2008) concepts.

4. Minimum 5 years advanced knowledge of Microsoft Architectures.

5. Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
