Description
A Denver company is looking to add a SQL DBA to their team. As a member of the Database Team, the Administrator will be simultaneously working on a variety of projects. These will include regular maintenance as well as migration and warehousing plans. The SQL DBA will manage and monitor performance, security, and change management of database access. This individual is also responsible for supporting multiple database applications in a fast-paced, advanced technology environment. The SQL DBA requires best-in-class customer service skills, value-added teamwork, business minded professionalism, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. RESPONSIBILITIES:- Responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting, support and maintenance of enterprise software- Follow established change management procedures and standards- Ensure robust archival, backup/recovery and disaster recovery processes and procedures for all production SQL Server databases - Provide database and application related end user support - Implement and maintain performance monitoring and tuning on the database servers - Responsible for ensuring that all open problem tickets are accurately resolved within predefined service level agreements - Develop and foster open communications between internal groups and customers - Responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation for the database environment - Provide 24x7x365 support on a rotating on-call schedule - Works effectively with IT Management and IT Technical Staff to identify, manage and complete project deliverables. - Communicates project status to management- Develops reports using MS SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)- Installs and patches database engine software

Experience/Skills
REQUIREMENTS:- 8+ years overall experience in IT and RDBMS positions including development, test, technical support positions.- 5+ years experience with Microsoft SQL as a DBA of production and development environments.- 1+ year implementation and troubleshooting experience with SQL 2005. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:- Experience with SQL 2005, SSIS, Reporting Services and Analysis Services. - Experience in SQL Clustering and Data Warehouse. - Ability to apply technical knowledge to perform all functions. - Demonstrated knowledge of technical project management principles, tools and techniques. - Prior experience in a production support environment where on-call support was required. - Proven communication skills. - Ability to think independently and render quick, accurate decisions with strong analytical and problem solving techniques. - Proven effective customer service techniques and communication. - Ability to work as a proactive, resourceful, cooperative and respectful team member. EDUCATION:Bachelor of Science degree in Technology or related field or equivalent experience. MCSE or MCDBA or other technical training is desired.
