MS SQL Server Database Administrator

The job -
This position is for a senior Microsoft SQL Server DBA with between 3-5 years experience with production MS SQL Server environments. The role will support a variety of MS SQL Server-specific solutions including, but not limited to; MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005 database implementations, implementations of MS SQL Server systems for enterprise application suites and web (.NET) application systems, configuring MS SQL Server backup solutions and implementing MS SQL Server Cluster and replication solutions.
DUTIES

• Install and configure MS SQL Server database environments
• Perform architecture and design of MS SQL Server data structures.
• Install, configure and implement MS SQL Server stand-by solutions using SQL replication methods
• Design relational database schemas utilizing common and three-tiered database structures.
• Perform database tuning and administrative functions for production and data warehousing environments.
• Perform MS SQL Server upgrades, patching and other administrative functions for clients
• Engage to identify performance bottlenecks through best-practice MS SQL Server tuning and performance analysis methods.
• Communicate projected timeline, develop applications according to customer specifications, provide detailed documentation of project work, and work with other consultants to provide quality solutions to its clients.
• Install, configure and deploy MS SQL Server based high-availability solutions on supported Windows operating platforms.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND EDUCATION

• Certified MS SQL Server DBA preferred.
• Fluent understanding of MS SQL Server RDBMS engine
• Strong installation experience for MS SQL Server DB in mission-critical systems
• Strong experience working with MS SQL Server support for fast issue resolution on client environments.
• Understanding of various backup configurations - using third party "hot" agents with MS SQL Server and Windows backup utilities
• Understanding of how to properly recommend disk space, RAM and CPU capacities related to "sizing" an MS SQL Server environment.
• Experience with MS SQL Server 7, 2000 and 2005 in test, development, QA and production environments in single or multi-tiered deployments.
• Experience with MS SQL Server Administration and Event Monitoring
• Strong operating system experience in Windows 2000 & 2003 for installation purposes.
• Four-year BS in Computer Science preferred, or at least four years work experience in MS SQL Server-focused application development.
