Description:
This position will provide Level 1 and 2 local (and remote via phone) Mac and PC desktop support including system hardware (desktops and laptops), software, configurations, applications, email, network access, printing problems, file transfers, and peripherals troubleshooting, as well as special events technical support.

S/he will be responsible for cross training with the Help Desk Technician in support issues and trends and is also the primary backup for the Help Desk Technician.

Technical customer service to the corporation is a major part of this position. Therefore, this person must enjoy working with a wide variety of people on a daily basis, be good at providing remote support over the telephone and in person, and be consistently positive, patient, and professional with non-technical employees, vendors, and co-workers.

Essential Job Functions:
o Responsible for Level 1 to 2 desktop support for internal and remote users including system set up, maintenance and troubleshooting on Mac and PC desktops.
o Takes calls from the Help Desk Technician and works to bring resolution to desktop problems.
o Mac and PC hardware and application troubleshooting and general support.
o Logs resolution of all calls, collects trends, documents redundant fixes, makes recommendations for system improvements
o Point person for sales meeting set up and presentation coordination.
o Support of on-campus special events including system setup, Power Point presentation completion, understanding of projector and sound equipment.
o Network printer setup, maintenance
o Maintain desktop hardware inventory
o Backup other operations staff in day coverage as needed
o Assist in deploying imaged system in desktop rollouts.
o Budget and planning involvement for PC installations.
o Process invoices for PC purchases.
o Participation in other department projects.
o Backup to Help Desk Technician

Physical Requirements:
o Must be able to lift and carry PC equipment with occasional work under tables (bend over, crawl around) and run cable.
o Must be able to move boxes of paper to printers.
o Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
o Ability to look at a computer screen for extended periods of time.
o Ability to maintain a composed and professional demeanor within a flexible and (at times noisy) work environment.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
o Degree in a related field.
o Minimum 4 years desktop troubleshooting including applications, operating systems, imaging, anti-virus, communications, inventory and licensing.
o Knowledge of Windows XP Pro, MAC O/S X, and Exchange / Outlook.
o Basic network administration experience working with Windows NT, Windows O/S, Appleshare.
o Some network application experience preferred.
o Must be self-motivated and able to follow through on problem resolution and project completion.
o Must be well organized in work, detail oriented, and have excellent follow-through.
o Excellent customer service skills.
o Comfortable with team-based work structure; ability to demonstrate flexibility on the job.
o Ability to demonstrate initiative, be conscientious and provide complete follow-through on areas of responsibility.
