Description
  • Our client in Columbia, SC requires the skills of a main frame programmer
  • Develop and enhance aplications using COBOL, CICS, MVS JCL, TSO, VSAM, Easy Trieve plus
  • Interact with Business users
  • Gather new and existing application requirements
  • Document requirements and discuss with management for changes and/or recommendations
  • Produce technical specifications using business requirements for any of the subsystems
  • Create new and update existing system design and workflow documents
  • Test applications that have been developed by internal and external staff
  • Perform other application development duties as needed
  • Perform general technical troubleshooting and provide recommendations to management
  • Work as part of a collaborative team
  • Analyze, design, develop, test, debug and maintain mainframe applications
  • Perform complex analysis and recommend solutions for disruptions in production systems
  • Provide input into moderately complex technical designs and propose customer solutions
  • Assume leadership role for smaller-scoped projects

    Experience/Skills
  • 5+ years experience programming in COBOL, CICS< JCL, TSO, VSAM
  • Preferable experience working with a large scale financial system
  • Also prefers experience or familiarity with client-server technologies such as VB and .Net
  • If you do not have experience or familiar with VB and .Net, show a strong willingness to learn
  • Prefers experience with tools such as Abend Aid, File Aid and Expeditor
  • Solid business understanding for the purpose of the application or assigned task

    Other desired skills:
