Apex Systems Milwaukee has an immediate for a Mainframe Programmer Analyst for a long term contract in Brookfield, WI

Mainframe Programmer Analyst Consultant

Daily duties include, but are not limited to the ability to perform technical analysis and to apply business and technical specifications to affect application change while adhering to standards and guidelines throughout the software development lifecycle.

Developer must be able to successfully analyze, code, unit and regression test a variety of application programs in both an Online (CICS) and Batch (MVS) environment.

Ability to document process changes.

Responsibilities:

ANALYSIS - Programmer will be exposed to both Functional and Technical specifications and be able to code in current BETA programming standards.

CODING - utilize COBOL, DB2 and CICS in the current BETA environment.

TESTING - will learn to use current BETA tools including Platinum and Debug to verify project results.

DOCUMENTING - able to document programs and processes using current BETA tools including MS-Word , MS -Excel, etc.

COMMUNICATION - able to provide status and project updates to Team Leader, Manager and PMO.

SUPPORT - resolve abends and issues as needed on various applications.

Qualifications:

5 years Mainframe experience using COBOL.

DB2, CICS, TSO, ISPF, and JCL skills are also necessary for the candidate. No management experience required. Strong technical and communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.

BA/BS degree in computer science, mathematics, or similar.

Knowledgable in but not necessary IBM-Debug, Changeman, Dumpmaster, Mainview.
