We have an immediate need for a Mainframe Automation Specialist.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Large IT Corporation in need of a Mainframe Automation Specialist-(URGENT NEED).

-Automation Skills Document.
-First Point of Contact for Problems.
-Implement/support Disaster Recovery as directed by next level of automation support.
-Add/delete Subsystems to the SA Policy, OPS/MVS or AF/OPER as needed as directed by next level of automation support.
-Open Automation Work Request for all work performed.
-Update Automation Work Requests on a timely basis.
-Document summary of changes as scheduled/implemented.
-Attend Problem/Change Meetings as needed.
-Assist in the implementation of the client improvement programs as assigned by next level of automation support.
-Assist the Account Management team in communicating technical/performance information to the customer.
-Provide support for Business Controls audits as requested by next level of automation support.
-Participate in account Service Maturity Assessments as requested through Account Process Managers on a no more than quarterly basis.
-Participate in service component continuous improvement projects as requested by next level of automation support.
-Maintain security specifications as identified by security health checking reports.
-Recommend changes to maintain an effective automation implementation to next level of automation support.
-Ensure accuracy of contact information in the on call database.
-Maintain Steady State of the automation environment.
-Understand the functions of the automation Platform.
-Add Additional Timers as needed
-Code additional Messages to the Message Table as needed
-Problem Management - Manage Problems to resolution.
-Engage Lvl 2/3 as necessary for complex problem resolution, following defined problem escalation process.
-Gather problem determination information prior to engaging next level of support.
-Review problem management queues daily for required activity.
-Change Management - Implement Changes as related to Steady State maintenance as directed by next level of support.
-Interaction with OPS to resolve day to day problem and change issues.
-Ensure message being acted on is allowed through MPF.
-Implement automation requests on a timely basis.
-Update automation requests on a timely basis with change information included proposed schedule.
-Document system changes as applicable in the AOIK (Automations Institutional Knowledge) database.
-Scan for and review errors on a daily basis. Including BNH messages, OPSxxx platform errors, IRX REXX failures, EMCS Console issues, IASCHECK errors.
-Maintain general product knowledge and understanding to facilitate communication and interaction with the various support groups, including automation, MVS, Network, CICS, IMS, etc.
-Perform work related to the general maintenance of the Standard automation platform at the direction of the next level of automation support.
-Implementation of general fixes (requests) at the direction of the next level of automation support.
-English skills, read, write, speak.
-Have sufficient (ie general user skills) skill in TSO and ISPF to allocate, edit datasets.
-Have sufficient (ie general user skills) knowledge of JCL to create and submit batch jobs and the ability to correct common/simple JCL errors.
-Ability to spot generic Rexx errors in the log and report findings to next level of automation support.
-Maintenance of Desk Procedures.
-Documentation.
-Second Point of Contact for Problems.
-Provide Level 2 Support for Level 1 Support Team ( ie Change Management, Problem Management, Fixes, On Call, System Support Groups).
-Understand security settings and implementations.
-Userid Administration, including Netview x x x.
-Execute Quarterly Healthchecking, including SA, Netview, OPS/MVS, AF/OPER.
-Review security corrective action resolution with next level of automation support.
-Maintain MPF list, with direction from next level of automation support.
-Review of IPL shutdown and startup taking advantage of logs of previously scheduled and executed IPLs and anticipation of future scheduled IPLs.
-Generate requests after review with next level of automation support to implement/change automation for resolution of SDC wide automation issues.
-Support of System Upgrades, if no automation product upgrades are required , including any routine updates required (ie Small policy updates, etc.).
-Implementation of standards as directed by next level of automation support (naming standards for datasets, rulesets, etc.).
-Identification of platform improvements and standardization opportunities.

Ensure Standard Messages/Actions are specified in the MAT Table.

Enforce Automation Standards across all disciplines (MVS, DB2 etc.).
-Have good TSO and ISPF skill to exploit some of the advanced editing functions, modify the TSO environment.
-Have good JCL skills, understanding GDGs, interaction with storage management and the ability to correct most JCL errors.
Ability to read and debug REXX errors.
-Maintain non-platform REXX code.
-Participate with Support Center to resolve issues with supplied code (Netview, SA, OPS/MVS, AF/OPER) with direction from next level of automation support.
-Interact with Support Center to resolve issues with supplied code (Netview, SA, OPS/MVS, AF/OPER).
-Third Point of Contact for Problems.
-Install Standard Automation Platform following all action items and performing post install processes to ensure a clean install.
-Debug Installation problems using Problem Determination Skills.
-Migrate existing OPSxxx Standard Platform to new level, resolving all issues with Netview, SA and OPSxxx, if applicable.
-Test all aspects of platform operation and interaction with all subsystem types.
-Identify and implement as needed additional functions required or remove old/replaced functions.
-Ensure adherence to documented standards.
-Provide Level 3 Support for Level 1 and Level 2 Support Teams.
-Keep abreast of changes in the Netview,SA, OPS/MVS and AF/OPER products including current releases and future strategy.
-Define and debug TSO and ISPF environments that aide in productivity and recovery.
-Define and debug JCL for use across diverse and complex environments.
-Understand and exploit JCL advanced features (ie Conditional Execution of Steps etc.).
-Design REXX execs in support of applications where the standard platform products do not meet the requirements.
-Utilize Common Routines provided by the standard platform products within REXX code.
-Extensive REXX Coding skills.
-Utilize REXX Compiler for performance improvements, where required.
-Fourth Point of Contact for Problems.
-Build OPS.
-Standard Platform.
-Build AAT Standard Platform.
-Document Installation procedure for rollout of new Standard Platform.
-Implementation and support of OPS Platform Upgrades and maintenance fixes.
-Interface with GSD to ensure platform can provide Products/put levels required for Standard Platform rollout.
-Interface with EMEA for OPSxxx related issues, if applicable.
-Provide EMEA with requirements to meet new and existing needs in the OPS Platform, if applicable.
