Description
SkilGroup, Inc. is in immediate need of a Mainframe Operator. Candidates must have experience in IBM mainframe system and subsystems, z/OS Operating Systems and subsystems, UNIX and Windows systems and applications, Microsoft Office products, Lawson, LRS products, TUBES, Bluezone and telecommunications system (CICS or Complete). A High School diploma or GED is required as is 3 - 5 years previous work experience. Familiarity with IBM mainframe, UNIX and Windows systems and knowledge of PC and Microsoft Office software is key to this position. Candidates must be proficient in the use of: Mainframe console commands; Mainframe text editors; Mainframe spool management, batch job control and peripheral device commands; and interfaces providing information and results of computer on-line and batch events. We are looking for individuals who possess the ability to understand and effectively communicate verbal and written communications and are able to think in a logical and structured manner. MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO WORK 10-13 HOUR SHIFTS AND WORK ALONE ON ASSIGNED SHIFT (days or nights). This position: monitors console and operating computer(s) according to defined procedures and guidelines established by supervisory personnel; maintains a working knowledge of departmental procedures, executes these procedures and participates in the documentation and organization of the aforementioned written documents; assure that access to the computer room and its equipment, files and reports is limited to authorized personnel; assists in the training of Computer Operator I; provides support to users as needed; runs daily, weekly, monthly and special request reports; locates missing reports in the computer system; verifies imaging system is running properly; has the ability to re-establish branch computers to on line status; directs or re-directs branch reports at branch locations; activates branch printers, etc. through the mainframe commands; assists users in identifying problem(s) and resolving or directing to appropriate personnel via HEAT system or direct contact; operates tape and disk devices, printers and computer control console; and interprets computer messages and performs required actions. This position requires the consultant to lift and carry boxes of paper and forms approximately 40 pounds. Other physical requirements include: finger dexterity as needed for extended periods of time for data entry and typing; grasp objects, including writing instruments; speak clearly in person and through the telephone; hear normal conversations in person and through the telephone; read printed material and view the computer monitor; sit for periods of time; stoop and bend to file and move materials throughout the office and perform repetitive motions needed for extended times. This is a 6-12 month contract in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
