We are seeking a Mainframe System Administrator for 1-year + contract in Laurel, MD.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for design and upgrade methodology of Commission Mainframe ZOSVI .9. This includes providing maintenance support on existing operating systems and giving guidance to system administrators. The temporary person in this position works under computer operations within the Commission's IT Department. Span of responsibilities, under the guidance of the division manager and section head includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Tracking and report software maintenance, consulting with technical management on software changes to the systems.
- Assisting in data center moves, upgrade and decommissioning systems.
- Providing support is disaster recovery testing, and coordinating problem management or scheduled changes with operators, client representative and other system technicians.
- Coordinating testing and implementation of Mainframe system software, including OS upgrades.
- Attending meetings and interact regularly with IT management, clients, and peers to continuously improve software programming services.
- Responding to customer issues 24X7 as assigned.
- Perform system-engineering functions with respect to the development of system concepts, architecture, design, and requirements, at the system, software and hardware levels.
- Installing new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve software related problems.
- Performing back-up and recovery.
- Integrate software and storage solutions.
- Managing tape resources on Mainframe platform (storagetek silo) and VTS.
- Developing, test, install and modi& computer software, such as, operating systems, compilers, utilities, multi-programming, and systems communication channels.
- Creating logic flowcharts, and encodes, test, debug documents, and install programs.
- Interfacing with and support the applications programming, database, security, and telecommunications efforts.

Requirements:
Must be familiar with the following:
- IBM Software: SMPE, HCD/IODF, JES2, VTAM, TCP/IP, TSO/ISPF, CICS/TS, SDSF, TCP/IP, RMF, OMEGAMON
- OEM System Software: CARIM, Ca-ENF, CA-SORT, CA-IDMS, CA-ACF2, CA-7, CA-ll, CA-PAN VALET CA-TPX, CA-MVS/OPS, CA-DOCCI, CA-l, CA-MIM, CA-MVS/OPS, CA-JARS, Focus, SMC Multi-platform support, SLS Robotic Config ExLM, FDRIABR, ViewDirect/Document Direct, VPs, JSF, DIE, Quickref, Jobscan, Code-l, MSP

Minimum of 10 years experience in the following:
Software Experience:
- IBM Upgrades to i/OS 1.6 through 1.10
- Experience installing IBM optional products on i/OS
- Experience installing CA and OEM products on i/OS
- Familiarity with IBM utilities
- Experience in the setup and use of most standard TMS software
- Familiarity with VTS systems
- Familiarity with Flash copy and supporting utilities

Hardware Experience:
- HMC console operation and updates as SYSPROG
- FICD configuration for IOGEN processing and IODF preparation
- LPAR setup and hardware installation CHPID mapping experience
- Experience in the setup and use of most standard TMS hardware

Bachelors Degree in an IT related field (Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Math, Science, etc.) or five (5) additional years of relevant IT experience.
