POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager of Business Systems Analysis is a newly created role designed to establish and the operation the business systems analysis function in the WDPRO organization. The Business Systems Analysis team will be the Technology team's primary resource for system requirements and domain expertise. The manager will be responsible for the organization and analysis of systems requirements, as well as support for improvements in software development and quality assurance processes.

The main responsibilities of the position include:
  • Working with executive stakeholders to reengineer our systems analysis projects, set priorities for operational improvements and provide change management oversight and structure.
  • Working across the organization to improve upon the performance measures used in the Technology organization for software analysis and technical performance, and to put in place the infrastructure necessary for monitoring and continuously improving Technology’s operations.
  • Improving our estimation practices and processes, and supporting initiatives to transform software development and delivery to improve efficiency and agility.

    This position requires the ability to direct a variety of diverse – and sometimes conflicting – requests, priorities, and activities. Candidates will need mature management experience combined with the flexibility to interact with people at all levels, within WDPRO and across the Walt Disney Company.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors's Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years experience in software design, web development and/or quality assurance
  • 3+ years of management experience with a proven track record of managing teams of technical people
  • Strong background in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience in capturing system requirements in use cases or user stories
  • Knowledge of how to represent and prioritize non-functional requirements in projects.
  • Solid understanding of how and when to use a variety of software cost estimation approaches such as high-level estimates (LOE), feature point analysis, and detailed bottom up estimation
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of multi-tier Internet system architectures
  • Working knowledge of how to evaluate performance and stability across distributed systems
  • Background working on commerce and content-oriented systems
  • Strong grasp of Internet technologies including HTTP, HTML and Java
  • Experience dealing effectively with non-technical business stakeholders
  • Understanding of how to motivate and achieve ambitious goals
  • Experience with large, complex companies with matrix environments
  • Knowledge of the CMM and/or Six Sigma are pluses but not essential
  • Knowledge of the travel industry is a plus but is not essential
