Dedicated Testing Professional to Manage High Performance Testing Team!

Job Summary:

Do you have the experience and motivation to take on the position of Management of the Testing Resource Center? (Rational tool suite preferred) If so, you will be responsible for providing: Test Leadership/Management for large initiatives, Test Automation assistance, Performance Test assistance, Test Data / Test Environment best practices, Testing processes / standards / tools. This role ensures defined testing methodologies are being followed to create repeatable and predictable results. The Software Testing Manager provides direction to the Testing department/unit.

Challenging and Rewarding Accountabilities:

1. Manage the IS Testing Center of Excellence (TCOE)
2. Generate, maintain, promote and achieve the plans and schedules for improving application quality through testing, enhancement opportunities, and new project development.
3. Manage Testing oversight and audit for projects.
4. Develop staff competencies that encourage and enable the smooth progression of ideas from concept to project to servicing.
5. Allocate resources to ensure efficient achievement of development schedules.
6. Work with other BCBSM Management to develop priorities, and directs staff activities in accordance with these priorities.
7. Define and measures staff productivity.
8. Promote and enhance the IS Application Development Methodology and improves personal level of competency.
9. Display a positive leadership style, establishing a professional business environment that will allow direct reports to excel within their areas of responsibility.
10. Support, refine, and document the methodologies, processes and measurements used in project development.
11. Manages the department including interviewing and hiring employees following required EEO and Affirmative Action guidelines and ensuring employees receive the proper training. Conducts performance evaluation, and is responsible for managing employees, including skill and career development, policy administration, coaching on performance management and behavior, employee relations and cost control.

Required Qualifications:

1. (3) years experience managing and building high-performing test teams to include: performance management, coaching/team building, staffing and compensation administration for the team responsible for testing, database, design, and/or other software development life-cycle disciplines.
2. Extensive knowledge of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and techniques for creating a high value and technically-driven Test Team that is strong, independent, formal and unbiased.
3. Experience customizing, implementing and working with various application development and/or testing methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree.
2. A testing certification from an industry recognized testing training institute or organization.
3. Experience in managing:
  • software testing activities/testing teams on large development projects.
  • automated functional testing using industry recognized automated testing tools and structured testing processes (Rational tool suite preferred)
  • performance testing activities using industry best practices and tools.
  • and/or developing physical and logical test environments and managing secured test data.
  • the development and support of end-to-end application testing capabilities.
  • the development, establishment and support of a customer model office testing capability.
  • and/or expertise in establishing and delivering a testing training curriculum.
    4. Experience as a portfolio/project manager, application architect or technical lead.
