IT Technical Support Manager


Millipore Corporation seeks an experienced Manager to manage a six person Tech Support department supporting 30 UNIX servers and 550 Windows servers worldwide. This position, located in Billerica, Mass, has responsibility for 7 x 24 worldwide support, and complex technical projects across multiple vendors.

The key skill set is core expertise in UNIX and in Microsoft operating systems. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a track record of success in managing personnel, large complex systems, and technical projects.


Principal Responsibilities:


-Manages a key global IT system infrastructure.

-Completes IT projects on time and within budget.

-Manages both support and project work effectively.

-Develops training plans and staff, performs personnel reviews, and fosters an environment of continuous improvement.

-Leads a diverse group of IT professionals to achieve corporate goals and objectives. Improves service levels.

-Works with business leaders to enact changes in the environment. Works closely with key technology partners. Stays aware of new technologies and evaluates/implements improvements to the infrastructure.

-Works closely with DBA/Applications staff to ensure the quality of the overall environment. Close attention to process oriented methods and change control.

-Responsible for 7 x 24 response to system issues worldwide. Viewed as part of a service oriented team.


Position Requirements:


-Education: Minimum 4 year technical degree. Advanced degree preferred. Additional industry certifications helpful.

-Experience: 7-10 years of direct experience as a technical manager, preferably involved in multi-national large company environments.(7 x 24).

-Proven experience in large company global support/corporate data centers. (7 x 24 support).

-Skills: Hands on knowledge of UNIX, and Microsoft operating systems. Experience with EMC,SUN and DELL preferred.

-Demonstrated project management skills. Experience in managing diverse project teams. Ability to work as a Project Leader and team member.

-Ability to manage multiple projects, service situations,and cross-functional teams.


-Strong written and verbal skills. Excellent people management and communication skills.df-tc
