Description
Responsible for the operation, design, procurement, installation, and maintenance of the video/audio compression equipment used in large-scale satellite downlink and uplink operations. Successful candidate will have an expert understanding of troubleshooting and maintenance of video/audio compression systems, computer networks and RF equipment. Manage and direct the team responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting digital compression equipment to ensure that the â??DISH Networkâ? compressed video/audio is available to all system users. Candidate will team with other departments to analyze and troubleshoot problems with video quality, encryption and transmission problems and recommend/implement solutions. Manage subordinate team members and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Analyze and evaluate new technologies and develop technical solutions that meet company requirements. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.df-tc

Experience/Skills
Master's degree (M. A.) in MIS/CIS or related field plus at least two years of experience; or at least ten years related experience and/or training in networking or ATM environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience which will include experience in personnel actions, conducting performance appraisals, employee recognition/discipline, interviewing, hiring and terminating, and budget development. Successful candidate must have strong verbal and written communications skills. Successful candidate will possess expert level knowledge in LAN configurations, switchers, routers, and TCP/IP protocols. Technical knowledge in broadcast video and audio systems as well as electronics theory desired.
