We are currently seeking a manager for a direct hire position with one of our clients. Responsibilities include:

Develop staff:

Recruit and hire

Coach, mentor, challenge and motivate

Provide necessary tools and training

Maintain clarity about values, visions, meaning and purpose (departmental, divisional, and corporate)

Develop key goals and Individual Plans of Work

Monitor performance regularly and provide frequent, specific feedback

Perform semi-annual and annual formal performance reviews

Assist with career planning


Deliver commitments for production support and projects:

Ensure that Business Systems are available per Service Level Agreements

Manage to Service Level commitments for business systems

Analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives

Negotiate nature and timing deliverables with user community where appropriate

Provide oversight and guidance to staff performing activities necessary for project and production delivery, including: design, development, engineering, integration, testing, implementation and maintenance

Proactively monitor, track and report on progress to ensure that agreed-to deadlines are met, with quality


Provide oversight and guidance for technical work to ensure that best practice IT and data warehousing concepts are followed:

Stay current on new technologies and platforms; have frequent communications with other companies, vendors and professional groups to understand industry and technology issues and capabilities

Participate in the development of data warehouse strategy

Ensure that all work adheres to divisional and departmental standards, including the Enterprise Information Model, various Enterprise & Solution Architecture Patterns, the warehouse SDLC methodology and associated artifacts, and IT change, problem and configuration management. Collaborate with management in other IT areas when proposing changes to the standards.

Manage vendor relationships to understand product offerings and fully leverage capabilities

Manage subcontracting and other supplemental resources


Collaborate with business management, IT management and key vendors:

Educate business and IT management on the vision, purpose and key objectives

Establish and maintain a high level of client trust and confidence in the team's knowledge of, and concern for, client's business issues

Work with business management to understand and translate corporate / functional business and information objectives into IT tactical plans

Work with IT management to ensure that IT standards are compatible with broader standards and coordinate the integration of multi-vendor platforms throughout the environment.


Budget Responsibilities:

Understand departmental budget and provide accurate forecasts to the Director for their area of responsibility, including staff, projects, contractors, and other expenses

Approve expenses for staff according to corporate, divisional and departmental guidelines

Negotiate pricing and contract terms with vendors to maximize value, capabilities and the vendor relationship

Experience/Skills
Specific Technical Expertise / Experience - AIX, Windows Server, Symantec / Veritas tools to include Veritas Clustering Services & Veritas Storage Foundation Suite, Virtual Server technologies to include VMWare, AIX VIO. Working knowledge of iSeries and Mainframe environments highly desirable.


Education - Four year business or information systems degree and/or fifteen years of IS technical and operational experience in a medium to large environment.
