Description
Responsible for design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. Applies knowledge of engineering principals to the design of mechanical assemblies, insuring all aspects of customer requirements are met. Directs Designer Drafters in developing detail drawings of products, give guidance to junior level mechanical engineers, and provides engineering support. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Develops new products and may support existing products. May require some business related travel.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Evaluates products by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and materials.
Interface with customers and vendors to resolve design issues, product use, field problems, and new product development.
Conducts top level designs providing input to the Designer Drafters.
Develops complex parametrically driven CAD models and assemblies.
Responsible for mechanical design activities and product development.
Create test plans and procedures for product qualification, acceptance testing of electronic packages, and validation of designs of new components to be used in new product design
Complete detailed structural and thermal analysis using Algor and hand calculations.
Participates in design reviews providing mechanical engineering support.
Supports customers as they integrate the products into their systems.
Conduct site visits to determine mounting locations on various platforms.
Work within an integrated product team.
Also supports production and manufacturing activities such as, planning and materials procurement.
Interfaces with managers of other departments in the company.

Skills Recommended:
Ability to communicate ideas to team members, management, and customers through presentation and written material.
Proficient in SolidWorks, Pro-E, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD tools.
Knowledge of mechanical and thermal modeling and Simulation.
Working knowledge of MS Office, and MS Project.

Education Requirements:
BSME or better

Experience Requirements:
4-7 years experience in mechanical design and product development.
