Description
MBS is currently seeking Media Handlers / Librarians to work as part of a managed service program. This is a full-time, direct hire position will full benefits. The immediate need is for a night shift position. Hours are Tuesday - Thursday 7pm-7am and Friday 7pm-1am.

Media Handler / Librarian Responsibilities

? Prepare media for the backup process, including performing daily media ejects and mounts
? Receive scratch tapes via 3rd party and process back into tape library as defined in written procedures
? Check all media in and out of media tracking software to ensure 100% tracking of media
? Record all action taken in each call tracking ticket
? Process all special requests received (e.g., ad hoc backups, stores/restores, tape mounting requests)
? Perform media management responsibilities which include, but are not limited to these activities:
? Vaulting of media as specified by HP; this includes requests for unscheduled tape restore or stores and media retrieval
? Applying external labels, if used, and running media initialization jobs to write internal labels
? Preparing incoming media appropriately (e.g., remove write protect, remove labels)
? If necessary, generating scratch listing reports, using available tools (e.g., Tapes Plus and Omniback)

Mandatory skills and experience for MBS Media Personnel

? Accurate keyboarding skills
? Basic PC skills
? Demonstrated strong interpersonal and telephone skills
? Effective written and verbal communication skills
? Ability to work in a high pressure environment
? Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks with minimal direction
? Demonstrated ability to adapt to a changing environment
? Ability to define, implement, and monitor process changes
? Problem-solving approach to resolve problems, improve processes, and increase productivity

Additional desired skills and experience for Media Personnel

? Data Center or Media Tape library experience

Additional desired skills and experience for Media Application Support

? Prior Data Center or Media Tape Library experience
? Prior experience in application support
? Demonstrated proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., C, C++, Perl)
