Job Description
Our client is seeking a Medical Technologist for a direct hire/fill time position in Augusta, GA. This position will be for the 2 nd shift - 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Candidates for this position must be in the greater Augusta area. Candidates should have previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist and hold a Medical Technologist Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent
The Medical Technologist will work under the direction of the Technical Director, prepares blood products and performs laboratory procedures that will ensure safe blood products for patient use and further manufacturing. Duties include:
Performs laboratory testing according to standard operating procedures.
Labels and delivers to other departments all appropriate blood components.
Performs quality control functions to ensure accurate and reliable work.
Assists in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies.
Assists other members of the team in the lab and component prep to promote positive customer service in an effort to achieve internal harmony
Follows departmental policy, procedures and guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or related Science with Certification as a Medical Technologist from an accredited school.
Medical Technologist Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent
Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Technologist
Basic computer skills
Ability to function autonomously in a laboratory setting. Job requires both initiative and dependability.
Ability to perform as a flexible and versatile member of the team.
Sufficient physical and psychological health to allow a minimum of 95% attendance rate.
Basic level of analytical skills is required in order to analyze and problem-solve.
Substantial interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with other team members.
Moderate level of physical capacity required to perform manual labor. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to lift, push and pull heavy laboratory equipment.
