ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The design engineer's primary responsibility will be to design custom mebacells.

In that capacity, he/she will be responsible for ensuring that the cell's timing numbers meet spec, that the megacell is both DRC (Design rule check) and LVS (layout vs schematic) clean as well has having no EM/IR (electromigration, large voltage drop) noise, or yield issues.

He/she will also be responsible for the characterization of both library cells

and custom megacells. In this capacity, he/she will own the characterization

flow for the project, and will be repsonsible for driving CAD to ensure that the flow does what the project needs it to do. He/she will also be required to run hspice to produce timing, power, and noise results to confirm that the flow is doing the right thing, and communicating with CAD any issues we may have with it.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
A strong background in scripting (i.e. perl, shell, tcl, and SKILL programming)

is desired, as well as a strong background circuit design, layout issues, and running hspice.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
The candidate is required to have a good working knowledge of circuit design, and in particular a good understanding of how to characterize cells, as well as familiarity with characterization tools such as hspice.



A familiarity with the UNIX environment including a basic knowledge of scripting and perl is also requirement.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
The candidate will also be expected to attend and participate meetings where decisions for the project regarding circuit methodology and design are made.

And, he/she will be expected to mentor others to bring them up to speed in both circuit design and/or characterization methodology.
