Our world-class engineering team is continuously working on innovations and developing and adopting new technologies. We not only deploy cutting edge technology to run our search platform but at the same time our R&D wing constantly works on the bleeding edge. No wonder our engineering group is called the THINK TANK.We are looking for a hands-on guru who will be part of the THINK TANK and will be responsible for re-architecting our database tier. Currently we are dealing with high-volumes and semi-large amounts of data and the person should be proficient in query optimization, schema design and MySQL deployment architectures. Responsibilities:*
  • Re-Architect the database tier.*
  • Assist development teams for logical and physical database design and provide architectural support.*
  • Work with Development and QA to identify and perform root cause analysis for performance issues.*
  • Own and manage our MySQL database farm.*
  • Setup and administer MySQL database servers for Production and Test environments.*
  • Work with Product Managers and development team to design database schema that will not only meet the business requirements but also be scalable, accounting for long-term growth in data, transaction volume, and functionality changes.*
  • Setup Multi-master and clustering replication for MySQL 5.x across distributed data centers.Establish ways to conduct active database upgrades to ensure high-availability with absolute minimum unplanned downtime.*
  • Assist in creating and implementing policies, procedures and standards to meet SLA and secure the database environment.*
  • Work with managed hosting provider to ensure cost-effective and efficient use of resources (database hardware, software).*
  • Identify and recommend tools and services for managing the database infrastructure.*
  • Develop and train resources to support the production database farm.*
  • Mentor and develop offshore DB resource as a back up to provide 24X7 support.Qualifications:*
  • 7 years experience with relational database systems.*
  • 3 years of hands on experience as a MySQL DBA.*
  • MySQL 5.0 (MyISAM and InnoDB engines).*
  • Proficient with MySQL replication (Master-Master, Master-Slave, cluster replication preferred).*
  • Strong performance optimization skills at query level, schema level, OS level (Linux/CentOS preferred) and hardware level.Familiarity with storage technologies on Linux: SAN, RAID, and NFS etc.*
  • Current working knowledge of modern x86 based server hardware and ability to define Hardware sizing requirements for database loads based on efficient use of multi-core systems.*
  • Experience updating MySQL instances in a high volume environment. *
  • Experience tuning MySQL instances with "semi-large" amount of data.*
  • Data Modeling and schema design experience.*
  • Data mining and analytics experience.Experience helping develop deployment plans.*
  • Strong scripting knowledge (Perl and bash are preferred).*
  • Knowledge of MySQL Storage engine architecture. *
  • Current working knowledge of high volume applications and verifiable experience in designing and maintaining a highly scalable database environment.Preferred Skills:*
  • Linux system administration experience.*
  • Familiar with java programming language and object-relational-mapping techniques (Hibernate preferred).*
  • Working knowledge of designing database schema to support applications utilizing ORM techniques.*
  • Working knowledge of database monitoring software.*
  • Familiar with networking, routing, load balancing.*
  • Experience with internationalization, UTF-8, time zones and currencies.*
  • Comfortable turning business requirements into high-level long-term schema implementations.df-tc
