Description
The NAS Administrator with proven experience in administering NetApp appliance technology focuses on administration and some engineering of the storage NAS environment delivering solutions to each of the missions. This role manages storage provided for NFS and CIFS/Windows File Services and effectively allocates and manages a centralized NAS infrastructure. The NAS Administrator communicates frequently with customers and participates in the planning and design of the storage environment, while ensuring high levels of data integrity, availability, and security. Further, this role interacts with Storage Engineering, Field Support Teams, and departmental System Administrators and other infrastructure support teams to provide daily support and technology solutions; delivers high quality NAS provisioning services to the Business Application teams and customers; and administers and maintains day-to-day operational support, implementations and periodic hardware and software maintenance.DUTIES*Supports Enterprise Network Attached Storage (NAS) and works with the Storage Engineering team, supports Backup/Restore technology in a mission critical environment.*Performs daily system health checks of NAS and backups and coordinates resolution with Backup team to ensure integrity of systems.Performs HW/OS installs, upgrades, and troubleshooting, including deployment and configuration of NAS filers.*Performs Qtree, Volume, Aggregates, Snapshots, Quotas, and multi-protocol management (NFS/CIFS).*Performs provisioning of storage allocation, capacity management, performance analysis, tuning and data migrations.*Maintains filer inventory, generates DFM reports on utilization, growth trends and provides recommendations on NAS needs to team management and customers.*Engages customers to assess and determine NAS needs in support of the College's missions. This includes developing quotas and storage recommendations for charge back accounting purposes.*Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation and meet the SLAs set with customers for the services provided.*Supports UNIX (AIX and Solaris), Windows, and VMS administrators and teams with data center operations, production support and escalation teams.*Receives questions by phone or e-mail and resolves problems and gives information to callers.*Acts as a liaison among departmental, administrative, and affiliated user groups.*Participates in the evaluation of future technologies for enterprise and departmental solutions.*Participates in capacity planning, system installations, upgrades, and other maintenance activities for enterprise and departmental systems.*Completes special projects and other job related duties as assigned by management. Experience/Skills
Required: Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science or equivalent technical work experience.Required: Minimum of two years in storage (SAN and NAS) administration. Minimum of one + year applied NetApp appliance administration.Preferred: SANS/NAS, MCSE and/or Solaris Administration Certification
