Includes all Federal holidays and two weeks paid vacation after one year of service. We have an exciting position coming available in MONTEREY. CA for a NETWORK ENGINEER working in the Meterology/Oceanography Center. SUMMARY: This project is to replace legacy software and to transition and update its software. There are 170 current software applications that must be transfered to the new environement, which is composed of IBM servers running the Linux Operating System. Some applications will be transformed via web services into new applications, while others will be transitioned as-is. Legacy hardware will be replaced and software must be transformed. Applications will be migrated to the BETA and Operational servers. Success will be determined when software applications are running smoothly on new hardware , providing data to users, and the old system is turned off.A significant part of this efort is the migration of legacy applications to a Service Oriented Architecture -SOA-which incl. Web Portal and Web Services Capabilities. JOB TASKS: 1. Installation, confiuration, testing and maitenance support of Web Layer Components. IE: APaches, Apache Module, jBoss, TomCat, Java JRE, Java compiler,m J2EEand Java components eg: Castor. 2. Software and Web Portal development, installation, confiuration and support. 3.Web service software, development, installation, confiuration and support. SKILLS: 1. Must be able to work in the Linux IS Environment. 2. Must have sufficient Systems Administration skills to perfom Web Layer Components 3. Must have 4+ years of Unix/Linux/Windows system support Java (inclduing J2EE) programming C/C+ programming Perl Scriptin Software Testing Apache, JBOSS, TomCat, Jakarta-STRUTS, CGI 4.
