Description

A growing Manufacturing firm is seeking a Network Administrator for a new position in Waco, TX.  This person will be responsible for all aspects of network administration including Servers, desktop systems, communications hardware/software and office systems. This person will be responsible for installing, setting up, and monitoring local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) and the wireless network. This person will perform a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training tasks to ensure LAN performance meets company and user requirements. Qualified individuals must be highly organized and have excellent oral and written communication skills, a POSITIVE team-oriented attitude and the desire to continue learning new technologies.  This challenging position empowers the individual to make decisions that impact the entire organization.
 
Requirements & Qualifications

Formal Education and Training

  •  Minimum 4 year University BS/BA. (Appropriately related academic field of study).
  • Position requires a technically oriented, highly motivated individual with 4 to 8 years PC and network support experience in a Microsoft environment.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of computer networking systems and languages.
  • Knowledge of computing and network hardware and peripheral equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques.
  • Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems.
  • Ability to provide technical training to end users and learn and support new systems and applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Windows Servers and desktop products.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of setting up remote access for users.
  • Demonstrated ability to administer a 250 node network including Firewalls.
  • Demonstrated ability to support networked printers and photocopiers.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software;
  • Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.
  • Install, configure, and maintain workstations, file Servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures modems, disk drives, data acquisition boards, CD ROM units, printers, and related equipment.
  • Perform and/or oversee software and application development, installation, and upgrades.
  • Maintain site licenses for department/organization.
  • Plan and implement network security, including building Firewalls, managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users.
  • Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
  • Develop and conduct various training and instruction for system users on operating systems, relational databases, and other applications; assist users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems.
  • Identify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations.
  • Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures.
  • Establish and perform maintenance programs following company and vendor standards.
  • Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
  • Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
  • Document network problems and resolutions for future reference.
  • Network administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems including e-mail Web Server, Internet access, office systems and applications support).
  • Supports server, network and desktop hardware, software and applications.
  • Performs technology needs analysis.
  • Rolls out hardware and software to ensure optimal deployment of resources.
  • Plans, implements, and supports the network and computing infrastructure plan.
  • Manages small to medium sized projects according to agreed upon budgets and schedules.
  • Assists with technology planning through ongoing research.
  • Network Infrastructure design and troubleshooting; WAN and TCP/IP administration; Software/Hardware, testing, maintenance, support; and advanced end-user support.

  • Some travel may be required. Travel time will be less than 20%.
  • Working conditions will range from working in a typical office environment to working in a manufacturing warehouse.
