Sr. Network Architect needed for a top Telecom company - LAN/WAN, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, MPLS, CCIE

Based in San Jose, CA, we are a large telecommunications, broadband, and wireless infrastructure provider. Due to massive growth, we are currently looking to hire for a Sr. Network Architect. The Sr. Technology Architect is responsible for driving and delivering on strategic planning, design, and architecture of our Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 and Services network to enable Product & Service offering at different network and services layers.

Responsibilities:
Research new technologies and equipment; develop technical specifications for new products and services as the resident expert in collaboration with other team members.
The individual will be articulating & presenting the architectural vision to various levels within the organization to get buy in.
Will be responsible for taking a product from concept to operation both in terms of network technology and supporting systems.
Develop architecture plans that include but not limited to defining product parameters, network architecture, vendor equipment, routing and switching policies and customer policies by analyzing product requirements versus equipment and human resource capabilities.
Develop and maintain standards for network architecture and inter- and intra-POP topology that meet network quality, cost and functionality objectives inclusive of leveraging the existing infrastructure.
Stakeholder with other internal groups to design, develop and deploy new product offerings. The Architect will work closely with Product Development on possible new products/services and make written and verbal architectural recommendations to the organization.

Must Have Skills:
1.) Bachelor's degree in Network, Computer, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Related Field and 5-8+ years experience with LAN and WAN architectures and technologies

2.) Must have a thorough understanding of BGP, ISIS, OSPF, and MPLS, and should be familiar with MPLS Traffic Engineering (TE) as well as VPN technologies such as L2VPNs (martini, kompella), RFC2547, and VPLS. Knowledge of MEF based L2 switching/bridging (STP, LAG, VLANs, Ethernet test sets), Class of Service (QOS) specifically TOS and DiffServ and related Queuing algorithms is a plus.

3.) Must have experience working in a large ISP environment using Cisco and Juniper routing hardware. Experience with Frame Relay, ATM, xDSL, SONET, WDM will be excellent.

4.) Employee must analyze requirements from within the group, from other groups, and from outside the company and select appropriate physical, process, software, and routing implementations of those requirements.

5.) Technical certifications such as a CCIE or JNCIE are desirable but not required.

6.) Must be able to diagnose and resolve routing issues, congestion problems, and hardware and software failures.

7.) Experience with any of the following is highly desirable: UNIX systems (*BSD, Solaris, Linux), programming and Scripting (C, Perl, SQL), optical transmission systems (Redback, Fujitsu, Cisco, Samsung, etc.), electrical and optical circuit test equipment.

8.) Strong presentation skills will be desired in preparation and delivery.

9.) 20% % of travel time is associated with this position.
