Network Architect

These networks process billions of business and consumer payment card and money transfer transactions annually for customers in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Latin America.

Network Architect
We have a critical need for an experienced Network Architect for new infrastructure needs as well as known and future acquisitions, conversions and integrations. In order to effectively support these initiatives and provide ongoing professional oversight, a dedicated resource is required to create and maintain an architectural vision, develop substantive requirements, and generate detailed, technical designs and specifications.

• Responsibilities:
  Create and maintain an architectural vision to encompass our worldwide reach
• Design new and updated network/security configurations addressing both significant strategic needs and changes as well as evolving business and tactical requirements
• Critically evaluate vendor-proposed designs, adapt and modify to create optimal solutions that balance a variety of complex variables and strategic issues
• Manage related vendor outsourced network projects including negotiations and oversight of vendor work efforts
• Design integration plans and direct network integration efforts
• Develop relevant simulation and test plans to assess all proposed designs; effectively interpret test data and derive implications
• Evaluate existing and future, complex network/security designs in order to develop substantive recommendations
• Gather information from multiple sources in order to develop accurate and comprehensive requirements
• Facilitate new requirements and designs to effectively adapt to new product needs
• Provide internal and external customer service by listening to and analysing customer business needs in order to identify and/or design solutions
• Recommend related polices and best practices
• Define 24x7 enterprise monitoring metrics and response criteria
• Derive design implications from evolving industry compliance standards and Global security standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• 7+ years as a practicing network/senior network engineer in a high availability, high transactional, E-commerce, or similar environment required
• Relevant college degree required
• CCNP, CCIE or equivalent certifications required
• Demonstrable understanding of TCP/IP Networks at a senior level, demonstrable experience implementing, tuning, and troubleshooting same required
• Demonstrable experience and understanding of server systems design, cluster management, troubleshooting, and hardware replacement with an emphasis on network integration specifics required
• Extensive knowledge of load balancing products and techniques required
• Extensive knowledge of Firewall, IPS and IDS and other means of securing and controlling unauthorized access to data required
• Expertise with common data center equipment and data center management best practices required
• Familiarity with multi-tiered, highly available Web applications in hosted data center environment required
• Familiarity with voice integration into network infrastructures (VOIP) required
• Familiarity with SAN/NAS technologies required
• Familiarity with Database technologies required
• Familiarity with Web application technologies required
• Understanding and knowledge of security/network best practices required
• Working knowledge of the security of common Operating Systems such as Windows, Unix, and Linux required
• Expertise in network documentation and architecture diagram skills required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Proven ability to investigate and accurately assess issues in order to ensure the optimal solution is implemented
• Focused, self-motivated and highly competent professional with proven track record
• Proactively stays informed of recent advances and design best practices via continuous education efforts; independently conducts relevant research and derives implications for Global initiatives
• Accepts accountability for work in support of continuous improvement
