Description
Backup and Recovery Engineer

The BackUp/Recovery Systems Engineer will work with members of the SAP, Microsoft, Site Support, Unix, Oracle, Storage, and Web Services global teams to ensure system-wide data integrity. Engineer will also lead Backup and Restore operations in an enterprise level production environment, utilizing Symantec NetBackup in a dedicated UNIX environment, hosting UNIX and Windows clients.



Responsibilities include:

-Setting up and configuring Veritas NetBackup servers/clients and tape libraries
-Monitoring daily Veritas NetBackup activity and examine reports to proactively avoid potential issues

-Examining and providing recommendations to improve backup and restore speeds, methods, and strategies to improve performance, scalability and availability
-Improve automation and productivity of backups through scripting enhancements
-Troubleshoot and resolve failed backups
-Update NetBackup policies and procedures as needed
-Examine current and projected loads and data growth for the purpose of capacity planning


Requirements:
-Bachelors Degree in IT Related field

-At least 5-7 years of experience with enterprise/global implementation, installation, patching, and configuration of Veritas Master and Media servers

-At least 5-7 years of experience with migrating from another backup solution to the NetBackup application and/or vice versa
-Experience with clustering NetBackup Master Servers
-At least 2 years advance Symantec NetBackup 6.x knowledge or higher
-Understanding of the concept of Backup, Restore, Archive, Performance Tuning, Policy Creation and Modification

-At least 3-5 years experience with Solaris/AIX/Windows Operating Systems

-At least 3-5 years working knowledge of NAS and SAN environments
-Veritas Certified Professional or Symantec Certified Specialist is a huge plusdf-tc
