This network/system engineering position will be responsible for large, enterprise design and implementations. We currently have a challenging and exciting opportunity for a Telecommunications Engineer to join GTAs Telecommunications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing technology solutions. Usually focusing on systems and platforms with significant impact on the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) and/or its customers. We are looking for a detail oriented, reliable, self-motivated person who prefers a team work environment to take on the challenges of providing direct hands-on support as part of the Network Engineering Solutions Development staff. This position requires someone who can meet deadlines and can work well under pressure. The list below provides examples of the types of projects that this position will possibly be involved in: SNA to IP conversion Consolidation of WAN on SONET Ring Token Ring conversion Upkeep of documentation Firewall implementations Data Center RelocationMajor responsibilities include: Configure new routers, switches, and other network equipment such as content service switching, VPN devices and/or firewalls ModifiModifyed existing equipment configurations Troubleshoot switched VLANed environments Troubleshoot routers and routing protocols Review project tasks and turn around dates Documentation skills Performs detailed analysis of system requirements to determine system requirements Provides daily updates and weekly status reportsOther responsibilities include: Recommends short-term alternatives when appropriate Reviews and provides feedback to and from Network Operations Tracks current and future inventory levelsSuccessful candidates should have a solid understanding of hardware and software network configuration and experience interacting with people at a variety of levels. The position requires demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts.
