Network Engineer - VoIP Engineer

This is an excellent opportunity to work of a pioneering company in the VoIP industry. This Sr. Level role will be reporting to the VP of Operations and will have direct responsibilities to manage, improve, and support the VoIP telephony network from the Network Operations Center.

What you need for this position:


- 5+ years IP network support experience and/or telecommunications network experience. VoIP experience preferred. NOC experience preferred.
- Advanced IP network troubleshooting experience for LAN, WAN, or VoIP networks.
- Familiarity with telecommunication (PSTN) network operations; knowledge of Class V telecommunications switching, configuring and extracting information
- Experience with remote support of complex, critical on-line systems.
- Unix Shell Scripting experience is a must
- BS degree required - Prefer BSEE or BSCS

What you'll be doing:

- Work jointly with the Engineering Group to develop, improve and support the network gateways and network operations center to expand the network and provide more effective service.
- Analyze network parameters to resolve network reported issues and to enhance the ability to monitor the network to assure its performance.
- Configure and extract information from Class V telecommunications Switches and other network equipment.
- Work with vendors and partners to resolve both IP and PSTN network problems.
-Provide direct telephone support to customers and field personnel, often under stressful conditions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date log of all support activities.
- Provide support to on site personnel for all aspects of product installation or problem resolution.
- Work with the product development group to resolve bugs and develop workarounds for network related problems.
- Responsible for off hours pager response which is rotated within the department to provide 7x24 customer support coverage.
- Contribute to improving support procedures and monitoring and diagnostic tools.
