Description

The position of Network Engineer is a key technical role within the Infrastructure & Support group. Network Engineers are responsible for planning, designing, deploying and administering LAN/WAN technology solutions interconnecting complex server, client, telecom and SAN environments. This role demands a dedicated individual with energy and passion; a self starting problem solver, who takes ownership of tasks and consistently delivers results that exceed the customer's expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, procure, implement, maintain and enhance highly-redundant complex LAN/WAN solutions
  • Diagnose network performance or reliability problems; develop and implement solutions
  • Day-to-day switch and Router management, setup, configuration, maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Research, recommend and execute modifications to LAN/WAN environment in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Perform capacity planning. Recommend acquisitions, upgrades or replacements of network components
  • Maintain disaster recovery procedures and coordinate disaster recovery testing for the network
  • Ensure security of network by maintaining appropriately configured Firewalls, Proxy and IDT/IDP systems
  • Design and perform security audits, restore procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Create and maintain documentation on network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new infrastructure.
  • Monitor and conduct performance testing; prepare and deliver LAN/WAN performance statistics and reports.
  • Coordinate licensing, maintenance and upgrades of all network components
  • Project potential changes in network capacity requirements to proactively meet business needs cost-effectively
  • Work closely with Tier 1 and Tier 2 Client Server support ensuring excellence in customer service.
  • Collaborate to ensure smooth and reliable operation of all systems, fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Work with application development, storage, client and server infrastructure staff to develop appropriate application environments and database architectures.
  • Other tasks as directed by senior staff and the AVP of Infrastructure & Support.

Experience/Background

  • BS in Information Technology + 6 years experience; or 9 years experience.
  • CCNA + CCDA; or CCNP; or CCDP highly preferred
  • MCITP or MCM helpful

Required Technical Skills

  • 9 years designing, developing and implementing highly redundant WAN/LAN environments
  • 9 years design and documentation of complex process and procedure.
  • 9 years TCP/IP packet-level traffic analysis
  • 9 years ATM; Frame-Relay; ISDN; Ethernet
  • 8 years experience protocol analysis and related test equipment/tools
  • 8 years Cisco 1800, 2600, 2800, 3600, 3800, 7200, 7300 and 7600 series Routers; 2950, 3500, 4500, and 6500 series Switches; and PIX and ASA Firewalls.
  • 8 years IOS
  • 8 years DNS, DHCP, IP management in a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • 7 years e xperience with KPI metrics based reporting and trending
  • 6 years BGPv4; OSPF; EIGRP
  • 6 years designing and implementing network security and access control; 802.1x, ACS, ASA/PIX Firewalls etc.
  • 5 years design and deployment of IPSec multi-part authentication VPN solutions.
  • 5 years vendor circuit provisioning management coordinating tier 1 and other 3rd party services
  • 5 years TACACS+ and RADIUS
  • 5 years 802.11a/g/b/n networks
  • 5 years experience with network monitoring and management tools NetQOS, Solarwinds
  • 5 years designing redundant SAN network architecture iSCSI, FCoE
  • 5 years datacenter cabling structure design and implementation MDF/IDF
  • 5 years intrusion detection and prevention systems; vulnerability scanning
  • 4 years experience with multi-site migrations or conversions
  • 4 years tuning WAN/LAN traffic flow utilizing QOS, Riverbed Steelhead accelerators, ensuring service quality for various traffic CIFS, VoIP, H.323 etc.
  • 3 years MPLS
  • 3 years Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server
  • WireShark
  • Exposure to Converged Ethernet, datacenter Ethernet technologies.
  • Ability to interpret BRD's and develop engineering specs, development and deployment plans
