PERSONAL COMPUTER/SOFTWARE DESKTOP TECHNICIAN

This individual's role is to provide a single point of contact for end-users to receive support and maintenance within the firm's desktop computing environment. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all personal computer hardware and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance. The incumbent will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via e-mail) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required.

Additional responsibilities include:

Performs onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end-users, and recommends and implement corrective solutions, including offsite repair for remote users, as needed.
Installs, configures, tests, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots end-user workstations and related hardware and software in order to deliver required desktop service levels.
Assesses the need for and implement performance upgrades to personal computer boxes, including the installation of CPUs, I/O and NIC cards, hard disks, ribbon fiber, hard drives, RAM, memory chips, CD-ROMs, etc.
Collaborates with LAN Technicians/Network Administrators to ensure efficient operation of the Bank's desktop computing environment.
Where required, administers and resolves issues with associated end-user workstation networking software products.
Receives and responds to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding desktop problems.
Ensures that physical desktop connections (i.e., RJ-45 Ethernet jacks, RJ-11 telephone modem jacks, connectors between personal computers and servers, etc.) are in proper working order.
Prepares tests and applications for monitoring desktop performance, then provides performance statistics and reports.
Assists in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations.
Develops and maintains an inventory of all monitors, keyboards, hard drives, modems, network cards, and other components and equipment.
Accurately documents instances of desktop equipment or component failure, repair, installation, and removal.
If necessary, liaises with third-party support and personal computer equipment vendors.
Conducts research on desktop products in support of personal computer procurement and development efforts. Evaluates and recommends products for purchase.
Assists in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future desktop hardware needs.
Writes technical specifications for purchase of personal computers, desktop hardware, and related products.
Assists in the planning and testing of the business continuity process for the Bank.
Qualified candidates will possess:

A Bachelor's degree, and four years of personal computer hardware and software technical support experience is necessary, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
A thorough understanding of troubleshooting and logic is required for hardware and software maintenance.
Comprehensive knowledge of computers and peripheral equipment is required.
Must be able to perform installations of hardware, software and peripherals and insure proper functionality. A Personal Computer Technical Coordinator Certificate is preferred.
Ability to conduct research into personal computer issues and products, as required.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
Self motivated and directed, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Strong customer-service skills are required.
