Job Title:

Network Technician

GENERAL SUMMARY

Our client provides IT Services and Software Products to Charter Schools.

Primarily responsible for installing, maintaining, and monitoring servers, applications softwares, and network connectivity.

This position may require some travel to client sites in the LA area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:


Strong phone and person to person communication skill. Client focus and genuine desire to assist

Installing, maintaining and monitoring servers

Maintaining and monitoring network connectivity

Assist Network Engineer in network design

Provides on-site and over the phone technical support for the staff at remote
centers and the corporate offices

Vendors relationships such as providing information relating to customers' hardware and software purchasing decisions

Creating and maintaining documentation of work procedures

Methodical and disciplined approach to problem solving

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Recent working knowledge of configuring and maintaining server hardware


Recent working knowledge of installing and maintaining Microsoft Server 2000/2003 operating systems, Exchange 2000/2003 mail servers, file servers, and web servers

Recent working knowledge of Active Directory 2000 and 2003 emphasizing on group policies

Recent working knowledge of Microsoft supporting services such as DNS, DHCP, WUS

Recent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Recent working knowledge of tape backup process

Recent working knowledge of maintaining antivirus and spam control programs

Recent working knowledge of wireless communications

Recent working knowledge of TCP/IP and network configuration

Recent working knowledge of imaging software ( Symantec Ghost)

Undertaking housekeeping and reporting functions for the area of responsibility.

Ability to work efficiently under pressure, while maintaining courtesy and professionalism.

Ability to prioritize and work independently in a fast-paced, multi-task
environment.

Ability and willingness to learn new or updated software and hardware.

Ability to exercise reasonable judgment without direct supervision.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on a frequent basis

Ability to travel as needed.


Ability to transport up to 3 computers and monitors

Possess reliable vehicle


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED:

Knowledge of configuring Cisco routers, switches, and PIX firewalls

Knowledge of configuring VPN

Linux server maintenance and command line skills

Knowledge of VOIP


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

MCSE 2000 and/or 2003 Certification required

BS in Computer Science or related field preferred

3 years of continuous employment in installing, maintaining, and monitoring servers.df-tc
