Description
As the Network Operations Center Technician, the candidate will be responsible for the following activities and tasks:
  • Scopes and performs tasks that require some judgment and creativity in the application of standard techniques and methods
  • Uses Micromuse Netcool browser, HP OpenView, and What's Up Gold to proactively and reactively monitor network performance
  • Opens, updates, and reviews trouble tickets to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Performs tests and evaluation on telecom circuits
  • Performs troubleshooting tasks using Network Management System GUI
  • Performs intermediate level CISCO commands
  • Performs radio and UPS reboots and determine evaluate radio performance
  • Evaluates Tandem alarms for fault isolation and performance
  • Perform monthly dial back-up checks and evaluate response
  • Notifies management of significant events
  • Works closely with internal and external customers; keeping them advised on system status


The skills, experience, and knowledge required to be considered for this position includes:
  • Must have CCNA/CCNP/CCENT
  • Solid knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, and servers
  • Experience using ASIMS trouble ticketing and inventory system
  • Experience using Micromuse Netcool system
  • Experience using HP OpenView System
  • Experience using What's Up Gold monitoring system
  • Relay, MPLS, DSL, and SONET networks
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Experience with continuous internal and external customer contact
