Network Operations Technician

Contact Michele Massey-Hughes operational support of PPL's critical infrastructure. Installations, break/fix good amt project work.

24 x 7 on call support, travelling to remote sites, off hours/weekend work, and sometimes working in hazardous environments.
Follow PPL's outage process which includes an Incident ticketing system, and a change request ticketing system.
Works directly with customers and vendors to identify, troubleshoot, resolve data networking Monitor LAN/WAN connectivity to ensure that all users have the required LAN/WAN connectivity.
Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connectivity issues as they arise.
Troubleshoot hardware problems.
Provide timely progress status on all ongoing support issues, with an emphasis on problems, issues, and concerns.
Monitor telecommunications performance and make configuration changes to hubs, Routers, Switches, etc, as necessary to ensure that maximum network performance is maintained.
Evaluate and recommend new or upgraded products
HP Openview Network Management system
Checkpoint Firewalls / SPLAT
VOIP Voice Over IP setup and support
Routing protocols OSPF, BGP, RIP
WAN technologies Frame Relay, PPP, ATM, MPLS, SONET
