Description
The Network Security Analyst reports to the Network Security Supervisor. The Network Security Analyst is responsible for the continued maintenance of IT security logs and policies within this organization. This is a hands-on position and requires excellent communication and customer service skills. Good troubleshooting and problem analysis skills are also needed.

Job Responsibilities:

**Create and Maintain IT Security Policies and Procedures
**Lead the implementation of all Security devices and software
**Lead and/or participate in special project teams as appropriate
**Perform periodic reviews of security hardware/software to determine that the devices/products are performing as specified.
**From a security standpoint, reviews/current architecture and policies and recommends/implements changes to improve current procedures and structure.
**Responsible for the investigation of anomalous activity of Firewall, Router/Switch and system logs and assist in the investigation of anomalies as needed
**Report any security violation to the Network Security Supervisor
**Communicate with ISP**s and entities that may be facilitating fraud through such means as Phished websites or e-mails
**Assess system and network vulnerabilities and work with IT to address them
**Assist in the training of internal IT staff on the proper adherence to internal security policies
**Tests the installation of security patches and updates when needed
**Develops technical documentation over viewing Network Security systems
**Assigns, develops and maintains administrative login codes and passwords for software applications, network access and telecommunications systems.
**Reviews and correlates logs and messages to identify instances of possible security infractions or vulnerabilities.
**Audits workstations, servers and devices to evaluate effectiveness of security.
**Provides recommendations for securing computer systems
**Maintains data encryption software programs and keys
**Schedules and runs data backup and archiving functions for security devices
**Responds to inquiries regarding data and computer security, policies and procedures
**Assists in the planning, communication, testing and implementation of disaster recovery procedures
**Leads the implementation of new security projects and reports the progress to the IT Security Supervisor
**Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or department manager


Experience/Skills
Experience with security issues surrounding current Microsoft, SUN and Oracle operating systems required.
