PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Network Security Engineer is responsible for architecting solutions, coordinating deployment, and day-to-day support of Network Security infrastructure that protects T. Rowe Price systems from attacks. This infrastructure consists of multi-layered defense devices including Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention devices and Proxy Servers.
The position is also responsible for Securing remote access to the T. Rowe Price networks through the use of VPN and wireless technology. The position is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to all levels of management on threats and risk in the environment. Finally, the position also develops solutions to mitigate the threats and risks discovered.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Maintains and monitors the Network Security infrastructure (Firewalls, IPS, Proxy servers) to ensure 24 x 7 high availability. Performs hardware/software upgrades on all devices in the environment, monitors systems to determine usage and early indications of potential issues, as well as analyze, diagnoses and corrects any issues in the production environment. Works with various IT and Business groups (MTS, Network, NT Systems, Helpdesk and Operations) to resolve all productions issues quickly and limit interruption to the environment.
* Maintains and monitors the Secure Remote Access infrastructure (Client VPN, SSL VPN and Telecommuter VPN) to ensure 24 x 7 high availability. Performs hardware/software upgrades on all devices in the environment, monitors systems to determine usage and early indications of potential issues, as well as analyzes, diagnoses and corrects any issues in the production environment. Works with various IT and Business groups (MTS, Network, NT Systems, Helpdesk and Operations) to resolve all productions issues quickly and limit interruption to the environment.
* Provides Security consulting services to various groups within T. Rowe Price (TRPIT, RPS, Investments) in order to review hardware/software architectures for potential risks, as well as develop solutions for new projects. Works with Business and IT groups to ensure project goals and deadlines are met without introducing risk into the environment.
* Develops and deploys solutions to protect T. Rowe Price assets in support of new or existing projects.
Reviews system and security events from all Network Security systems to detect threats or potential issues. Analyzes data from these events to make recommendation to all levels of management.
* Creates and maintains documentation for all areas of responsibility. Creates and collaborates on presentations to all levels of management

QUALIFICATIONS:

* 5 years work experience in Networking, Firewalls, Proxy servers and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) preferred
* 5 years work experience with remote access technologies such as VPN preferred
* 5 years work experience with System or Security Administration of UNIX and Windows preferred
* CISSP Certification preferred
* Checkpoint/Juniper Network certifications preferred
* Financial Industry experience preferred
* 5 years experience working in large, complex network environment preferred
* Nokia IP Series hardware & Checkpoint NG Firewall software
* Juniper SSG500 Series Firewalls,
* Tipping Point Intrusion Prevention systems
* Checkpoint SecureClient
* Juniper SSL VPN
* BlueCoat Proxy servers
* Microsoft Windows Server
* Sun Solaris
* Linux
* Excellent understanding of TCP/IP
* Capable of performing and analyzing network sniff traces using snoop, tcpdump and Ethereal.
* Capable of writing and troubleshooting Perl, UNIX Shell and Windows Batch code
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Excellent team working skills
* Proficient at technical writing and presentations
* Must interface with multiple areas and staff levels and with people of varying technical abilities
* Demonstrates initiative and adaptability
* College degree and four years of related work experience, or a minimum of 8 years related work experience required
