TITLE: Network Technician
Location: McHenry, Il 60050
5 month contract with extension possibilities

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

This position is responsible for the efficient and effective design and support of the Microsoft based network server environment. The primary objective of the Network Technician team is to achieve and maintain maximum efficiency of the Microsoft Active Directory environment to support the Information Systems strategic plan.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides network management, including migration strategies. Responsible for the availability, performance, and documentation of the Microsoft systems.
2. Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves problems affecting server performance. Creates and tests applicable policies and procedures in conjunction with the overall Information Systems methodology.
3. Performs all server administration, including backup, recovery, performance monitoring, patches, fixes, and upgrades.
4. Assists in the design of network communication and integration standards.
5. Maintains the inventory and appropriate records for network servers, software and other network components as required. Documents changes and schedules downtimes in accordance with department standards.
6. Provides education and training with respect to Microsoft server based platforms
7. Recommends and implements operational improvements in keeping with current technology trends and established architecture. Participates in the evaluation of new or emerging technologies.
8. Acquires and maintains in-depth knowledge necessary to continually and effectively support the Microsoft Server environment.
9. Assists with disaster recovery planning and testing.
10. Coordinates server activity related to other department teams and System Administrators. Works with Security Analyst on issues related to HIPAA to ensure proper security measures are engaged.
11. Integrates Mission, Vision and Values into each of the responsibilities of this position and daily communication with customers, Associates and co- workers.
12. Adheres to and is responsible for the safety standards of including the completion of the mandatory organizational safety standards on an annual basis.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Associates degree in Information Systems or related field
2. 2-4 years position-related experience
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills and organization skills
4. Excellent customer service/telephone skills
5. Excellent business problem solving skills
6. Ability to plan and coordinate workload
7. Project management
8. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
9. Technical skills with network hardware/software
10. High degree of proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
11. Ability to handle multiple tasks and systems concurrently.
12. Ability to travel to multiple sites.
13. Ability to participate in on-call schedule to provide 7 x 24 support.
14. Flexibility in work schedule.

OTHER:
1. Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field.
2. Experience in health care environment
3. Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 2000, and NT
4. Experience with Microsoft Active Directory
5. Experience with Microsoft Exchange messaging platforms
6. Experience with Citrix Terminal Servers and thin client stations
7. Experience with Local and Wide Area Networks
8. Certification as required by department business needs: Examples: MCSA, MCSE
