The focus of the position is to manage the engineering/networking aspects of deploying and maintaining Mobile Applications (Instant Messaging, Email, Pictures etc.) to wireless carriers across a range of platforms (WAP, SMS, MMS). Deployment includes initiating service with new carriers and rolling out new versions of products to existing carriers. Maintenance refers to troubleshooting network outages and taking corrective action to limit future impact to services.

Responsibilities:

Consult with AOL carrier partners to design and implement network configurations which address the following:
- Highly reliable, high performance carrier-to-AOL connectivity
- End-to-end network security
- Capacity planning and monitoring
- High availability and fault tolerance (24x7)
Determine feasibility of proposed network deployment (and subsequent schedule) based on evaluation of carrier infrastructure
Deploy hardware and software as required to enable desired network configuration. Validate connections to carriers.
Collaborate with AOL Network Operations and Operations Security to ensure product and network configurations are secured, maintained, and monitored in a manner consistent with current AOL procedures.
Work with the AOL NOC to establish appropriate escalation procedures.
Troubleshoot network outages with carriers and set up requisite procedures to prevent future recurrences
Manage exchange of technical information to support connections between AOL and carriers
Provide networking expertise on AOL Mobile Messaging engineering efforts as needed.
