Open Systems Engineering - Midrange Engineering

Skills:
- One or more years experience with Veritas NetBackup products
- Knowledge of System Administration of Unix and/or Windows NT/2000/2003/2008 platforms.
- Experience with large data center backups
- Experience with configuring database backups
- Good network troubleshooting skills
- Good written & verbal communication skills with the ability to analyze documents and resolve problems
- Knowledge of SSO and BCV style backups
- Veritas Certified Professional or any System Administration certification is a plus.
- Installation and configuration of all versions of the NetBackup client software on multiple OS platforms, which include but are not limited to Windows, Solaris, AIX, HP, and Linux.
- Configure, monitor and remediate any pre-production backups.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Communicate with project teams/SAs aiding in the design of a proper project plan to insure data integrity and safety.
- Installation and configuration of all versions of the NetBackup client software on multiple OS platforms, which include but are not limited to Windows, Solaris, AIX, HP, and Linux.
- Configure, monitor and remediate any pre-production backups.
- Work with OS support teams to resolve any O/S, hardware, or network based issues that may impact optimal performance of backup.
- Work with project team DBA's to implement database API style backups
- Work with networking team to troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Coordinate with multiple other groups to configure specialized backups. (ie Control-M scheduled, SSO, BCV, etc.)
- Documenting and reporting on every implementation.
- Troubleshoot issues related to backup integrity.
- Working with team to mentor and share new ideas.
- Assist with design/implementation of newer backup infrastructure
