Job Summary
At Sapient, a Manager, Business Consulting leads the development of innovative strategies to improve business performance. This individual will work on a broad range of projects to develop business, operating, and IT strategies. The focus of their work includes three key areas:
Business Problem Solving – Take ambiguous and complex business problems and using research and business assessment capabilities, define the problem, drive innovative ideas, define the opportunity set, and recommend actionable next steps.
Informed Business Decision Making - Bring rigor a client’s decision making process by performing detailed cost/benefit analysis, presenting and evaluating solution options, and driving consensus among key stakeholders. In some instances, we help our clients develop new decision frameworks and governance processes that continue to deliver value far beyond a particular engagement.
Solution Planning - Define, scope and plan new solutions for clients. This includes determining how to measure business results, modeling current/future business processes, gathering business requirements and identifying the organizational changes required to successfully realize the benefits of the solution.
With a unique skills set and experience, the Manager, Business Consulting will also be expected to help drive both sales pursuits and strategies, and to support structuring of complex, long-term contracts with clients and partners.
Key Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following and others as assigned:
o Problem identification, structuring workstreams and engagement planning
o Managing key tracks of work (including other individuals) in accordance with established budget, workplans and quality standards
o Develop and apply conceptual frameworks and analytical approaches
o Lead customer, vendor, market analyst, and client interviews
o Lead secondary research, data collection and market/competitor analyses
o Lead financial analysis and business case development
o Review, document and assess client operations
o Develop and present solutions and recommendations
o Lead the gathering and prioritization of business requirements based upon business and user needs and technology capabilities
o Create strong working relationships with clients in business and IT roles
o Support business development activities including client proposals
o Work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary teams
o Support practice development activities including recruiting & community building
Job Requirements:
Education:
Ideal candidate will have an MBA or MS degree in Energy related field.
Experience Guidelines:
o 5-8 years experience in Energy, having played hands on role as trader, trader analyst, risk manager, risk analyst, scheduler, credit risk manager, contract manager, accounting manager.
o Extensive OpenLink Endur configuration experience.
o Experience working as a Business Analyst on a crude/refined products trading system
o Good understanding of the energy/commodity industry end-to-end, especially crude oil and refined products.
o Must have experience delivering new Energy Trading systems, specifically for Crude and/or Refined Products
o Experience in both physical and financial trading environment trading preferred
o Consulting experience a huge plus
o Ability to frame problems appropriately
o Financial analysis and business case development capabilities
o Strong understanding of financial models; ability to create financial models
o Understanding of technology – specifically how technology can enable certain business functions.
o Creativity with an eye to developing new and innovative solutions
o Strong problem identification and analytical skills
o Primary and secondary research & analysis skills
o Experience leading teams and motivating others to take action
o Ability to structure and plan projects/programs
o Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to create & deliver clear, powerful & concise presentations/proposals
o Ability to plan and manage time and resources, establish priorities and meet goals
o Must have experience in successfully delivering business system change which involved gaining the buy-in of business users
o Ability to effectively interact with senior clients
o Experience with process mapping and process redesign
o New business opportunity identification
o Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to create & deliver clear, powerful & concise presentations/proposals
o Must also have the technical aptitude to communicate with the development team and understand the application architecture
o Ability to plan and manage time and resources, establish priorities and meet goals
o Highly proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project
Significant travel may be required as much of the work is done at the client site.
Education:
Ideal candidate will have an MBA or advanced degree in a relevant research discipline.
