Description
Seeking an Operations Engineerwith experience resolving complex application and network problems.

Operations Engineer has intimate knowledge of the internet and networking protocols along with excellent communication skills, and should be able to perform in-depth troubleshooting of caching and streaming problems, often communicating directly with the customers technical contact. Additional responsibilities for include the daily management of the network, responding to alerts generated by a variety of tools in a timely fashion as following defined priority levels and response times.

The successful candidate will possess a full understanding of web environments and architectures, very strong knowledge of HTTP, DNS, and familiarity with web caching. A highly successful candidate will be very conversant with the application of streaming protocols like UDP, RTSP and streaming formats like Flash, Real, Windows Media and QuickTime. Applicants must be very comfortable using Linux and Windows and will be able to communicate clearly and effectively to a technical audience.



Required Skills:
An in depth understanding of websites and how HTML, HTTP, DNS and other internet protocols work with a focus on web caching with a 3-5 year experience.
At least 3 years experience working with proxy servers and firewalls.
Good understanding of how rich media and streaming technology work.
Good knowledge of using streaming protocols and formats like Flash, QuickTime, Windows Media and Real.
Experience with both Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems is required.
Knowledge and experience of using Perl, shell scripting and command line tools.
Strong communication (both verbal and written) and inter-personnel skills
Previous experience in a CDN is a strong plus.df-tc
