Job Description
This is a newly created IT position due to near future migration from a legacy system to Oracle 9i.
The Oracle Database Administrator will participate in all aspects of migration process and go-live, then monitor and maintain the Oracle databases used to support multiple enterprise applications.

The candidate will have proven experience to ensure integrity, accuracy and predictability of data, reporting and systems; assist users in identifying and alleviating database performance issues; provide assistance to the technical support and applications developers.

This position reports to the Director of Systems Development in which the position works independently, requiring minimal direction and follow-up.

The position is responsible for database software installation, implementation and upgrades, physical database design and implementation, database capacity and performance management, development and implementation of database backup and recovery plans, and problem identification and resolution.

This position also provides leadership in the use of relational database management systems to application development team and is responsible for obtaining and maintaining knowledge of current trends and directions related to the employed database management systems and management tools.

In addition, this position assists other team members, and seeks to enhance the database environment by identifying areas of improvement, sharing information and assisting in educating other members of the database team.

This role is central to the success of the company's growth strategy since our customers require a high level of availability and security in our hosted applications.

Required Skills:
5+ years of industry experience
3+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA
Experience and proficiency with Oracle Enterprise Manager version 9 or 10g
Proficient with recent Oracle database versions and features (9i required, 10g a plus)
Multi-Node configuration knowledge (Apache Server, Java Servlets, Oracle Reports and Forms, and Load balancing)
Proficiency with SQL and PL/SQL performance tuning
Extensive experience with UNIX platforms (Solaris experience is required), including Unix shell scripting skills, Linux, Perl, and encryption technologies
Oracle software installation and upgrade, database performance monitoring and tuning, database backup and recovery, database troubleshooting and problem resolution, database capacity planning, physical database design and implementation, Oracle Replication, Oracle Partitioning.
Must also be capable of working independently with a minimum amount of supervision.
Nice to have (but NOT required): Experience with Oracle Discoverer Desktop, Plus, and Viewer versions)

Education:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Management Information
Systems, Information Technology or related technical field.
