Description
PLANIT Technology Group is currently seeking a Oracle Database Administrator for a permanent opportunity with our client in Herndon, VA. This is an immediate need.

Responsibilities:
* Ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support the system.
* Working with the team to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high availability and optimum performance.
* Proactively monitoring the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
* Providing trend analysis to the service management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
* Improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
* Implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team.
* Documenting knowledge base how-to and support documents; and implement database security measures and backup strategies.

Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years of industry experience to include:
* Oracle Database Administration experience
* Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service and managing the internal and external database security
* Other database systems, preferably SQL Servers
* Managing multiple RDBMS on large systems
* Experience in administering Oracle 11g on Linux platform
* Experience with PeopleSoft in an Oracle environment
* Experience with Oracle Rack & Unix
* Excellent oral and written communication skills

Education and Certification Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
* Oracle Certification, preferably OCP
