Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Oracle DBA. This person will design, implement and maintain complex databases with respect to access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection, security, documentation and statistical methods. This may lead or manage large, complex projects or may lead and act as a resource for less experienced database administrators.   • Designs logical and physical databases or reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical database in terms of physical characteristics, location, and amount of space and access methodology. Assists management in the development of long term strategic plans as related to future system growth
  • Codes complex database descriptions and specifies identifiers of database to database management system or directs others in coding database descriptions
  • Calculates optimum values for database parameters such as amount of computer memory to be used by database. Assists management with system backup and recovery. Specifies user access level for each segment of one or more data items such as insert, replace, retrieve or delete data. Also specifies which users can access databases and what data can be accessed by users
  • Selects and enters codes of utility programs to monitor database performance such as distribution of records and amount of available memory
  • Confers with team members to determine impact of database changes on other systems and staff cost for making changes to database. Assists management with system backup and recovery
  • Modifies database complex database programs to increase processing performance or tuning (May direct less experienced database administrators in this capacity)


The skills, experience, and knowledge required to be considered for this position include:
  • 4-6 years of database management experience
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • Must have extensive knowledge and experience in Oracle 9 and 10
