**This position is Contract Contingent upon Funding Award and expected date of award is anticipated to be between

Job Summary: Orbital Safety Analyst (ISC2 / NASA / GSFC)



Provide direct and primary real-time support to NASA GSFC for robotic flight operations, perform operations support to Orbital Safety Analysts (OSAs), and provide backup OSA manning.



Tasks include:



• Detailed knowledge of ASW operations



• Assist in monitoring and calibration of the Space Surveillance Network.



• Analyze Astrodynamics Support Workstation (ASW) performance and resolve issues in a timely manner.



• Provide analysis, troubleshooting, and programming support for ASW software maintenance.



• Analysis and modification of the High Accuracy Catalog (HAC) satellite maintenance settings to improve accuracy, performance, and reduce failures.



• Develop new operational procedures for HAC maintenance and conjunction analysis.



• Provide analysis, astrodynamics, and orbital determination support and training to 1SPCS in support of the 1SPCS SCC and SAC missions.



• Liaise with NASA, AFSPC, and NRO on conjunction assessment and theory compatibility issues



• Support other NASA or AFSPC missions as requested by NASA, AFSPC, and STATCOM



Technical Skills Required:



5-8 years experience in the following technologies is required: Unix, astrodynamics and satellite orbital mechanics, and space related fields.



Working knowledge of orbit error modeling (covariance), conjunction assessment and space surveillance.



Other Requirements:



Some shift work and OT required.

Familiarity with the Space Surveillance Network (SSN) desired.

Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or science required, Masters preferred.



Position will require training in Colorado Springs for several months, then permanent placement in the billet in the Vandenburg Air Force base location outside Lompoc, CA.
