Description
Position Description/Duties:

Responsible for the detail design documentation, development, unit testing and maintenance of internally developed applications and externally purchased software products
Write code for system designs that span platforms
Code to and create Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
Write code for enhancing existing programs or developing new programs
Write detailed technical specifications for subsystems and identify integration points
Estimate project timelines and resources required to complete programming projects
Perform unit testing and debugging and set test conditions based on code specifications
Supports application throughout the Product Development life cycle
Coordinate with areas for integration architecture solutions and determine the integration approach
Review vendor research and gap analysis, make vendor recommendation to technical team and client

Experience/Skills
Qualifications/ Required Skills include:

Competencies, skills, education level, years of experience, etc (Note: refer to physical requirements listing to complete section).
Bachelors degree in related business area or equivalent work experience and 6 or more years of related work experience
Knowledge of System Development Life Cycle, product development methodologies, database methodologies and system integration
Demonstrated experience with Unix operating systems (e.g., Unix, MVS, etc)
Detailed understanding of coding design and documentation protocol as well as unit testing, change management and release procedures
Strong Analysis and Design skills required.
3+ years of Demonstrated experience programming using PL/SQL and Powerbuilder language
Experience in complex application development in a RDBMS environment. Oracle experience required.
Demonstrated experience using debugging tools, processes, and techniques.
Demonstrated experience using versioning tools such as PVCS or Clear Case

Secondary Technical / Business Requirements (desired):

Bachelors degree related to Information Technology.
Health Care Industry knowledge. Claims Adjudication experience preferred.
Diamond System experience preferred.
Experience using the Rational Unified Process, tools, and artifacts preferred.
OOAD experience preferred.
Must be able to work well in a fast-paced, professional development team environment.
Must be a self-starter, that can work effectively both alone and closely with other team members.
An understanding of Rules-Based system concepts and design.
RUP methodology experience is a plus.
