Wonderware has been an industrial software leader since 1987, when the company was introduced. Based in Lake Forest, Calif., the Wonderware and ArchestrA business units have regional sales and technical support offices throughout North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia to provide support to its network of more than 160 distributor offices.

We have an immediate requirement for a Principal Software Engineer in our Lake Forest, CA headquarters office.

RESPONSIBILITIES
This position involves developing Windows based software, mainly Windows 2000, 2003, XP, or later OS's for the industrial automation market. The position involves software design, coding and unit testing. The selected candidate will participate in the software design process including creation of design documents complete UML diagrams, detailed functional specifications, detailed design documents and other artifacts. The qualified candidate possesses the ability to work with a Quality Assurance group. Written and verbal communication skills are an essential element of the job.

As a Principal Software Engineer you will be expected to exercise sound software engineering judgment, involving value and relative importance of features or issues, risks and priorities of current tasks, estimates of work and time to deliver a specific task, etc. on day to day activities and be able to communicate changes, issues, concerns, etc. in an effective and timely manner. In addition your role will involve providing technical leadership and guidance to members of the team with less experience. A qualified candidate must have a proven track record of working in small team environments on medium to large scale projects from inception to release. A qualified candidate must be able to demonstrate sound software engineer skills and practices for the delivery quality software on-time and on-budget.

A qualified candidate will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting software projects involving the newest Microsoft tools. As well they will be part of a dynamic, skilled and professional team of engineers who are helping to shape and influence the applications Wonderware is developing for today and the future.

QUALIFICATIONS
* 7 - 10 years experience in Microsoft Windows software development
* Excellent Microsoft C++ skills, with a very strong knowledge of COM including the creation of ActiveX controls, interacting with ActiveX containers, experience with .NET architecture and C#.
* Must have strong debugging skills and techniques with MS Visual Studio. Knowledge of STL, ATL, MFC, VB, multithreading applications, object oriented concepts and techniques.
* Must have direct experience with authoring and reviewing Use Cases, UML diagrams, Functional and Detailed Design Specifications.
* Must have experience with source code management tools, project management tools, bug-tracking tools, documentation tools and all other project support related applications.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
** Special consideration will be given to candidates with Industrial Automation domain experience, Rational products like ClearCase and UML development processes.
