We will relocate the right person to beautiful southern California.

What you need for this position:

- Bachelors Degree in Packaging Technology or Related Field; a Master's Degree will be preferred
- Packaging Engineering Degree or 2-10 years of equivalent experience
- Consumer Foods Industry preferred
- Knowledge of Food Laws, FDA and USDA regulations

What you'll be doing:

- Work closely with Business Leaders and Marketing Team to gain insight into customer and consumer needs and unmet needs, and then translate these into tangible packaging requirements.
- Create and maintain packaging development timelines for input into the project management process.
- Project management of all packaging changes/improvements in the plant.
- Under limited supervision, manage assigned projects through planning and organizing to assure required deadlines are met.
- Generate cost saving opportunities in the packaging and shipping of packaging area.
- Proactively elevate any issues to supervisor that risk not meeting these required deadlines.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the developments and trends in packaging
- Reviewing trade journals, participating in professional societies, attending trade shows and seminars, and consulting with suppliers and visiting their facilities.
- Responsible for product and packaging testing and recommendation.
- Review, recommend, test and assist in the implementation of various proposals for package design.
- Communicate necessary information with Marketing, Product Development, Plant engineering, Procurement and contacting various suppliers for estimates, suggestions, or information; test package systems in laboratory, pilot plant, and production facilities.
- Write and manage Packaging Specifications for all products.
- Provide packaging Bill of Materials to plants.
- Provide finished goods specifications for entering into SAP. Update PCM with necessary packaging information.
