We have an immediate need for a Performance Capacity/Management (PCM) Engineer.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Software Engineer with a performance engineering background and a successful track record of delivering improved performance for enterprise solutions. The engineer will design, develop, and conduct performance tests, simulations, and prototypes. He/she will also be involved in actual systems monitoring.

The Engineer will then analyze results to identify areas of performance risks and provide further recommendations where appropriate. Examples of such functions include, but not limited to:

??? Design, development and execution of simulations, profile testing, and performance testing design and execution

??? Design, development and collection of instrumentation data for systems monitoring

??? Statistical analysis of test results or production monitors for risk identification

This person will work closely with the Project Managers and Performance Analyst of PCM to support various performance-focused initiatives. The Engineer needed for this position will be hands-on and able to support leading performance practices. This person must be able to act as a consultant to end-users, business unit leaders, and project team members to ensure improved understanding of performance engineering principles.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
??? Supports performance goals for the project

??? Responsible for the following for a project:
-Design, construction and execution of stubs, agents, scripts that simulate end-user behavior.

-Design and development of instruments and monitors.

-Technical risk assessment and resolution of performance issues.

For example, preparing reports to end-users, business unit leaders and project management on status, problems, issues and underlying performance problems and/or tuning recommendations.

-Contributes to, directs and validates appropriateness and comprehensiveness of task identification, work effort estimates, and work schedules for development and maintenance activities.

-Coordinates and facilitates the interaction of internal departments to provide associated deliverables required for the successful completion of development and maintenance assignments.

Qualifications:
??? Requires 3+ years experience developing and/or leading performance issues on projects, such as:

-Capacity planning and network monitoring on a multi-platform environment

-System performance monitoring, tuning and reporting

-Software tool performance monitoring, tuning and reporting

-LAN/WAN performance

-Workstation performance

-Preparation of hardware and software tuning recommendations

??? Technical skills in the following (certification preferred, but not required):

-Performance Center with Load Runner 8 and above - expertise in html and xml protocols

-Shell, Perl scripting

-AIX 4.5 and above

-CICS

-C/C++

-Java

-Websphere,

-.Net, Web services

-Graphing tools

-Oracle, DB2 database performance analysis

-Bachelors degree

??? Personable and diplomatic team player with the ability to manage, motivate and work well in a team environment

??? Experience in a technical role on at least 3 full lifecycle medium-sized projects lasting more than 6 months

??? Ability to define and distill detailed functional and non-functional technical requirements

??? Detailed knowledge of prototyping, performance testing and benchmarking of third party product integration

??? Experience in Healthplan industry

1 year contract

Work Shift: 1st shift

Weekend Coverage: Weekend coverage is not required.

On Call: Does not need to be on-call

Years Experience: 5
